Omega Seamaster 300 "Spectre" Limited Edition Review

The Omega Seamaster 300 "Spectre" Limited Edition was announced in August 2015 as a bit of a surprise among watch lovers: just in February Omega had announced another limited edition (the Omega Aqua Terra 150M James Bond) but this new addition was something special: for the first time it would be the same watch featured in the movie with a fairly important role.

Now this photo alone suggest that this watch is not just another sporty limited edition but the quintessential bond watch (with the revised nato strap in grey and black) that would work very well with a suit. If is good enough for James Bond, it is good enough for the boardroom.

Some watches require some time to be properly reviewed. As watch lovers will know the initial "honey moon" period will make you believe that the last watch is the best in your collection but is it really ? Here you can see a photo of the watch in March 2017: around a year and a half after the purchase.

The two core difference between this LE and the regular Seamaster 300 lines are the lollypop seconds hand and the bi-directional rotating bezel that functions as a GMT second time zone indicator.

The omega revisited Nato strap is not your usual nato available for few dollars. This is a very high quality and comfortable strap.

The watch is powered by the Omega Calibre 8400 a
"Self-winding movement with Co-Axial escapement. Resistant to magnetic fields greater than 15,000 gauss. Free sprung-balance with silicon balance spring, two barrels mounted in series, automatic winding in both directions. Bridges and the oscillating weight are decorated with exclusive Geneva waves in arabesque."

So it is the latest innovation by Omega that includes a very high resistant to magnetic fields that ensure the higher level of accuracy (we are surrounded by magnetic fields that interfere with the precision of the watch). This is probably one of the best movements available all around. It is somehow more innovative than the movement in the Rolex Submariner.

The watch has a water resistance of 300 Meters

This watch was sold at 6800 Swiss francs. I say was because, despite the relatively large limited edition run (7007 pieces) it is now sold out everywhere. A suitable alternative is the Omega Seamaster 300 that can also be equipped with the Bond Nato strap (sold for 5850 Swiss francs)
